Founded in 1881, the American Terra Cotta company manufactured architectural terra cotta for more than 8,000+ buildings in the United States and Canada. Much of the company’s production went into the work of Prairie School architects such as Louis Sullivan. Many examples can still be found in Chicago, Indianapolis, and Minneapolis.

This title features reprints of every known edition of the company’s publication Common Clay which featured articles by architects and photographs of the company’s work and processes.
